Welfare Cadillac Blues by Jerry McCain
Welfare Cadillac Blues was recorded by singer and harmonica-player Jerry McCain for Dick Heard's Royal American Records. The track was a political blues rap that was recorded in 1970.

Jerry McCain a.k.a. as Jerry "Boogie" McCain, was an obscure blues harmonica player and singer who was most active in the 1950s. He’s been active on-and-off since then. His biggest hit was Welfare Cadillac Blues: a semi political response to Guy Drake’s right-wing racist country song called Welfare Cadillac.

Soon afterwards this song his recording career faded, not to be fully revived until the late 1980s, when he signed with the soul label Ichiban and made albums such as Love Desperado and Struttin' My Stuff. He retired from his day job: a private investigator. In the 1990's he was often booked for festivals and club engagements. Later he opened a nightclub, where he performed occasionally.
