Pearl Time by Willie Mitchell is a track from the 1967 album Ooh Baby, You Turn Me On. Willie Mitchell was a key architect of the Memphis Sound in the 60's and 70's. He was a soul, and funk music producer and arranger who is best known for his Hi Records label, which released albums by a large stable of popular Memphis soul artists, including Mitchell himself, Al Green, Syl Johnson and Ann Peebles.

Pearl Time

Pearl Times was a cover of Andre Williams 1967 single Pearl Time. Williams original version didn’t hit the R&B charts, Willie Mitchell recorded his version in 1968, alongside covers of tunes by James Brown, Otis Redding and Bobby Hebb. Mitchell’s take includes a funky horn section, organ andsome tight drums, with Mitchell rapping the lyrics.
