Leon Gardner
Sometime in the mid '60s Gardner moved from his home in Texas, USA, to Los Angeles. He released some 45s on several independent labels between 1965 and 1974. He also set up his own Igloo record label, and a publishing company which he named Shelita after his eldest daughter.
Be There
In 1974 he released Be There on his own record label Igloo Records: a spoken word track with a jazz beat. After 1974 Gardner disappeared under the radar. He became frustrated by his lack of recognition and success, and became increasingly more reclusive. Not even his family knew of his whereabouts and it seemed that he spent the last part of his life just sitting on a bench on Hollywood Boulevard. In 2001 Leon passed away. He was living in a residential home for the elderly until his passing.
