Ken Nordine (1920 - 2019) was an American voice-over and recording and the voice behind dozens of commercials and movie trailers, including this legendary Levi’s ad. One critic wrote that:
You may not know Ken Nordine by name or face, but you'll almost certainly recognize his voice
Word Jazz

Nordine is best known for word jazz: a fusion of jazz and storytelling, the title of popular albums from the fifties and the name of his radio show.

In 1966 the Fuller Paint company came up with an idea to do a radio commercial series: short little spoken word pieces that pay homage to different colors. The spots were on air for severtal weeks; however, at the end of the campaign, listeners began calling radio stations to request they be rebroadcast.

Nordine decided to record an entire lp with short spoken word pieces that pay homage to different colors, complemented by the  smooth jazz of his musical director Dick Campbell. The lp was entiteld Colors: A Sensuous Listening Experience. Listen to the track about the color Maroon.
