Town Called No where by Skip Mahoaney and The Casuals

A Town Called No-Where
was recorded at DB Sound Studios in Silver Spring, Maryland. It was released on the album Your Funny Moods by DC International Records in 1974. The track was written by Skip Mahoney and James Purdie.

Skip Mahoaney & the Casuals

The group was formed in 1965, when they were all kicked out of a house party and in 1969, the group solidified around its best-known line-up: Skip Mahoney, Roger Chapman, Billy Jones, and original member George Norris. Most importantly, the quartet joined forces with schoolmate James Purdie, a partially blind multi-instrumentalist who handled drums and keyboards as needed.

Over the course of two years, the group that called themselves The Casuals cut seven tunes and when their first single for DC International Records, Inc. came back from the pressing plant, the group was dismayed to find itself billed as Skip Mahoaney & the Casuals.

A Town Called No-Where

One of the songs from that 1974 album Your Funny Moods was A Town Called No-Where. The track starts with a pumping bass line followed by a rap intro and Mahoney’s impressive falsetto.
Have you ever been to a town
Now one hangs around
Confusion is everywhere
I said, no one seems to care
