Spin-It Jig by Smokey Brooks
Henry L. Brooks a.k.a. Smokey Brooks wrote songs with Otis Turner and was signed to Leonard Lewis publishing. Together with Otis Turner he wrote Spin-It Jig. This funky proto rap track was released in 1971 on Now Records as the b-side of the ballad Eternal.

Spin-It Jig is funk breaks winner from New York. Like James Brown, Brooks wanted to take his listeners 'to the bridge'.
Spin-It Jig became famous because a pecussion sample was used by Portishead for the song Sour Times.
